A set of descriptions of facts, principles, theories and practices assimilated during the learning process, relating to a field of learning or professional activity.

The above definition refers to the meaning of the term “knowledge” referenced to the qualifications frameworks (EQF and PQF), which needs to be assimilated to satisfy the requirements for a concrete qualification.

The definition is consistent with the definition included in the Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2008.

Individual categories of learning outcomes in the EQF and PQF should not be treated as completely disjoint, since learning outcomes referred to as “knowledge” embrace a certain component of “skills”, learning outcomes referred to as “skills” embrace certain elements of “knowledge”, and both “knowledge” and “skills” constitute a significant component of social “competence”.
